Krabi in February: compare mainland convenience with an island-facing stay.
February falls in Thailand’s drier travel season, but sea conditions and boat services still vary by day. Choose Ao Nang for transport and dining, or stay closer to the beach if you want fewer transfers. Keep excursions flexible around wind and operator notices.

These are qualitative travel-season labels, not measured crowds or occupancy forecasts. TAT recommends November to April. Thai Meteorological Department station normals for Krabi, 1994–2020, printed page 85 of the national report. High and low are monthly means of daily maximum and minimum temperature. A rainy day records at least 0.1 mm, including brief showers. The station is inland of the resort beaches; these figures are not a coastal forecast. This guide uses a different source, period and rainy-day threshold from the modelled reference figures in the destination listing. These are qualitative travel-season labels, not measured crowds or occupancy forecasts. TAT recommends November to April. Towns, neighbourhoods & resort areas
Choose an area first, then compare its hotels.
These are three different bases on the mainland coast, not interchangeable beaches. Ao Nang has road access and town services; Railay needs a boat transfer; Klong Muang puts the resort and beach first.
Area centres, not hotel entrances. The coast overview does not show boat routes or road access.

Area view · Ao NangTown base & rooftop poolAo Nang’s dining and boat desks suit February island outings; the rooftop pool gives a hotel break without leaving the town base.
Central Ao Nang access rather than a beachfront resort setting.
February is drier, but boat trips still depend on sea state. Pool heating is not stated, and the main road setting is busier than a beach resort.
The official site describes the pools but does not state a heating schedule. Ask the hotel if water temperature is central to your stay.

Area view · RailayCliffs, beaches & pavilionsRailay puts beaches and limestone scenery close for February days, with an outdoor pool and a self-contained peninsula stay.
Access is by boat; the peninsula's beaches are shared with other visitors.
Reach the peninsula by boat, so luggage and arrivals need transfer planning. The hotel lists no pool heating; private pools apply only to selected rooms.
The official factsheet lists the pool and selected private-pool accommodation, but does not confirm pool heating.

A resort-focused location outside the Ao Nang town strip.
Klong Muang has fewer walkable services than Ao Nang, so plan rides for dinner or excursions. Pool heating is not stated; sea trips remain weather-led.
The official hotel page lists two outdoor swimming pools with beach access, without a confirmed heating schedule.

Before you travel
Check the rules for your passport and route before departure. Visa eligibility, the arrival form and health advice are separate checks.
Depends on your nationality
The current visa-exemption scheme allows eligible passport holders up to 30 days. Other passports or longer stays may need a visa. Non-Thai arrivals generally complete the free TDAC within 3 days before arrival; it is not a visa.
Check your health history and route
Review routine and travel vaccinations with a travel-health professional. Mosquito precautions still matter. Yellow-fever certification can depend on recent countries and airport transits; there is no single vaccine-free answer for every arrival.
Check the policy details
Arrange cover for treatment and medical evacuation, plus any boat trips, climbing or diving you plan. Check activity exclusions and current regional travel advice before departure.
The Royal Thai Embassy update effective 15 September 2026 lists 60 eligible nationalities for visa-exempt tourist stays of up to 30 days. Check the rules for your passport, travel purpose and stay length, including passport validity, onward travel and evidence requested at the border. Completing a TDAC does not grant or extend permission to stay.
Checked 29 October 2026. Recheck the linked authorities before departure. Health guidance is general; individual advice comes from a qualified health professional.
